Of course, the movie was such a smash hit, it had people marching in a phalanx to get the coolest Spartan costume accessories, like this Spartan Combat Shield and Sword combo. The Perfect Spartan Shield For Hand To Hand Combat While most Spartan skirmishers used spears and long spears at the start of a battle, they would often switch to short swords and slightly smaller shields like this one to take on foes in one to one combat. It allowed for greater dexterity and range of motion, as well as the ability to block and parry quickly. This styled shield and sword combo can be stowed together for convenience.
